Christmas Decor
Christmas decorating happened a little earlier than usual this year. I want to blame having to shoot holiday content for the blog, but truth be told, I just wanted to get a nice jump on things. The Christmas season always comes in a hurry so anything I get done ahead of time I am all for.
I have been posting a bit along the way. I have gotten a ton of questions about my decor, so I thought I would organize it nicely in a blog post for you guys.
I do quite a bit of holiday shopping at HomeSense, so a lot of what I have I can't exactly share, but I do frequent Pottery Barn this time of year, so I was able to find some of the basics I have had for years still available.
We don’t put any lights on the house outside but I do put lights in all the front facing windows inside. I use these little command hooks( in clear) that makes this really easy. I leave the command hooks up year round. Each year I do have to replace a few of them though because they are not as sticky anymore. I also use the same command hooks but up a size to hang our stockings on the mantle.
Outdoor Decor:
We keep our outdoor decorations pretty simple as well. Pre-lit garland above the garage, around the front door, a few faux trees and string lights in the windows.
A couple of years ago, I had someone come out and give me a quote to put garland up above the garage, and the price was absurd. So we figured out a great way to be able to it ourselves every year.
I did end up getting our contractor friend to screw in eyelet screws in above the garage, for a single car garage, we ended up using 7. So we leave those screws in year-round (never once have I ever noticed them), and now each year we just use zip ties to secure the garland.
For around the front door, we use a garland hanger similar to this one.
I am also pretty picky (like really picky) with my outdoor garland. Last year I imported my garland from the states, haha. The Costco in the US had this garland, so stupid they don't carry it in the Canadian stores. The rest of my outdoor decor I did get from the Canadian Costco. I got two prelit little trees for next to the front door and then these prelit trees for the front yard.
Much Love,
