Third Time Around - Second Trimester Update
We Are Expecting Baby Number 3 This Fall!
We found out we were pregnant so early this time around (at just 1 week we suspected I was pregnant) and announced it to family at 3 weeks. So, it felt like it was taking forever to get to 12 weeks to announce it to everyone, but then we got caught up with everything going on in the world it wasn't until recently, when I was not able to get my pants on, that I realized we were already at 20 weeks!
How Far Along? 20 weeks
Sex: We are not finding out again, but we are hoping for a boy. Although, as long as we get a healthy baby, this mama will be over the moon! We have 4 sets of friends who have had success with he book “How to Choose the Sex of your Baby” which is essentially just timing sex with your ovulation (down to the hour) so we did give that a go. I guess we will see if it worked!
Food Cravings: Oh I am craving seafood quite a bit! What I wouldn’t give for some good sushi (it doesn’t matter that I shouldn’t have it, because good sushi is not really an option in my small town) If you have been following me on Instagram, then you know I have been really in to making sourdough bread during quarantine, so eating that with some olive oil and salt really hits the spot.
Missing: A cold beer on a hot day! Every time I am pregnant during the summer, that is what I miss the most.
Symptoms: I have been SO tired this pregnancy. I don’t think the COVID-19 situation and being stuck at home is helping much in that department.
Weight Gain: During my first pregnancy, I weighed myself almost weekly, which has not been the case this time around. I only check my weight at my doctor’s appointments and try to avoid looking even then, haha! I have been letting pretty loose with the carbs during quarantine!
Difference in Pregnancies: It has been kind of crazy this time around. With my first two, I started getting really nauseous around 5 weeks and my boobs ached like crazy, so that is how I knew I was pregnant. This time, I was literally not even a week pregnant, but I was so tired and exhausted everyone around me was telling me I was pregnant. I thought there was no way could I already be feeling this bad just one week in, but it turns out that everyone was right!
Preventing Stretch Marks: During my last two pregnancies, I used Honest brand belly balm 3 - 4 times a week and it worked great. So, I plan on doing the same this time around.
Maternity Clothes: I need them! My belly showed up around 12 weeks and just last week hit the point where my Lululemon leggings were not giving enough stretch, so I had to go ahead and order a size up. That is it so far though, because it kills me to buy new maternity clothes when I have bins full of them in Kelowna (because of the border closure, we have not made it up there yet). I am trying to hold out until we can get up there.
Sleep Pattern: It sucked in the first trimester, but now that I am well in to the second trimester, I am sleeping much better. It’s about time to order a pregnancy pillow though.
Health: Knock on wood, I have not really gotten sick this time around. During my last two pregnancies I got very sick at one point or another throughout the nine months. I am hoping that, because of the excessive hand washing, I will get by this time without any issues. We take social distancing pretty seriously so when COVID-19 is in the back of my mind, I know I am doing everything I can to protect myself. I am really trying not to stress about that.
Preparations: Well, the good news is I am already two babies deep, so I have pretty much everything I need. The bad news is I am due in the fall and with the hockey season up in the air we have no idea where we will be when my due date arrives! I am trying not to think about it or worry too much until we have some more information on what is happening with the hockey season.
Exercise: I am still doing Maggie Gorges 6 week home program, I have to modify quite a bit but still getting in awesome workouts.
Overall, I am feeling really good and we are so happy and anxious to meet our new little one. I cannot wait to share more of this journey with you and hopefully introduce you all to Price Baby #3 in just a few months!
Much Love,
