Our Wedding Day
Tomorrow is our seven year wedding anniversary! It is kind of funny - with our first couple of anniversaries we were really on top of the ball and we gifted according to the traditional yearly gifts. You know, year one is paper, year two is cotton and so on and so on. That fizzled out after year 3 I think, now we just make a point to spend that day together. The last couple of years that has consisted of dinner and a round a golf. This year, obviously, that is not happening, so hopefully we will be back on track next summer! But I realized I have never shared much about our wedding day, so I am taking this opportunity to do so.
We got married the summer of 2013 at a winery near my home town in Washington. We didn’t invite too many people, we kept it under 200, which was a nice size. It was a hot summer day here, but only the ceremony was outside then we headed indoors in for the reception. I had always thought I would get married in a church, but the church we had always attended while in town was closed, so we opted for the outside ceremony. Carey’s pastor from growing up came down to Washington to officiate the ceremony. It ended up being the perfect day.

The Dress:
Okay, I am definitely not one of those girls who was going to drop 15k on a dress, thats just not me. So, why would I even try on these crazy expensive dresses? Well I did and I fell in love (picture on the left), but knew I wanted to keep shopping. In literally the last store we had on our list, I found one that was a similar cut, but really plain (middle photo). It was dirt cheap, I want to say under $200, so I just bought it and took it to a local seamstress to see what she could do. I ended up loving what she was able to do (picture on the right) and I got my dream dress for under $500. I just wanted to share in case any of you find yourself in a similar situation.

During this time ‘Morning After’ photos were kind of popular and I really wanted to do them, BUT Carey had to leave the morning after our wedding (well, he left for the airport at 4:30 am so pretty much the night of our wedding) for the winter Olympics camp. I joke that Carey had our Honeymoon with PK, because he came to our wedding and then flew off with Carey the next morning, haha! Anyway, we did these photos the day before the wedding. I love them and they are still the photos we have hanging in our master bedroom.
For a little behind the scenes of our wedding day, I wanted to share our video with you. It is so much fun for us to look back and see what a beautiful day we had and relive the moments over and over again. I hope you enjoy it!
Much Love,
