Binge-Worthy Halloween Movies
As I’m sure you’ve realized from my recent blogposts, our family loves Halloween and all the fun decor, activities and food that come with it! We love to get into the spooky season, which often comes with many movie nights both as a family or just Carey and I. There are so many classic movies, but also new shows on Netflix, that we have on our “must watch” list. I’ve listed them below, so that you can binge them, too!
FAMILY FRIENDLY
Halloweentown (1998)
Originally released as a Disney Channel original movie, Halloweentown is a series of four films that your whole family can enjoy! From a skeleton cab driver to a grandma riding a broom, there’s so much Halloween fun to be had!
Hocus Pocus (1993)
This is definitely a classic Halloween film that can be enjoyed by the whole family! Parents can enjoy a throwback to the younger Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Midler, while kids will love the crazy and spooky sister witches!
Haunted Mansion (2003)
While this movie takes place in a haunted mansion, the characters go through some hilarious moments and of course, it all wraps up in a happy ending! A bonus? There’s a ride based on this movie at Disney World!
Casper the Friendly Ghost (1995)
Another classic that every family can enjoy. I mean, who doesn’t love a talking ghost who can’t seem to become spooky?
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Tim Burton’s animated film combines Christmas and Halloween to make a great storyline. Watch the look on your kid’s faces when Santa Claus gets abducted!
THE CLASSICS
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
This Netflix series is a twist on the classic Sabrina the Teenage Witch series. You will see classic characters, such as Sabrina, Salem and Aunt Zelda, but in a new and intense storyline.
The Sixth Sense (1999)
Almost everyone has heard of this classic film and the infamous line “I see dead people”. Such a great Halloween movie.
Candyman (2021)
This is a modern take on the classic film by the same name. If you love urban legends, you’ll love this storyline.
Beetlejuice (1988)
The soundtrack from this film and broadway play have been circulating around Tik Tok lately, so it’s a great time to watch this crazy story if you haven’t already. It’s another Tim Burton film, which means you’ll be taken into a very interesting universe!
IT (2017)
This is another movie that is often brought up around Halloween. It’s based on a Stephen King novel and might be terrifying to anyone who hates clowns!

YOU (2018)
This series has nothing to do with magical powers or goblins, but it is full of suspense! Netflix is preparing to release the third season and if it’s as good as the first two, I’m sure I’ll binge it in no time!
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
The first in the Haunting anthology series, it’s a show based on one family and their haunting memories. It flashes into the past and comes back to the present all while keeping you on your toes!
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
This is the second in the series, but a completely different storyline. A few more ghosts are present in this season, but it’s still so good!
Midnight Mass (2021)
This is the third season of the Haunting anthology series, which surprised everyone again with such a good storyline! I won’t ruin it for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, but expect a lot of twists and turns on a small, remote island.
American Horror Story: Coven (2013)
There are quite a few seasons of American Horror Story, but Coven is a great one to binge around Halloween. It’s based on witches and definitely gives off a spooky vibe. If you’re into slasher films, maybe try the 1984 season instead, but that’s not one I’m going to dive into again!
Scream Queens (2015)
Netflix definitely took a chance with this series and it didn’t last very long. It tries to be creepy and spooky, but almost ends up being funny at times. If you’re into parody films, you might like this. It’s a fun series to get into the Halloween mode, but won’t leave you freaked out.
There’s only a few weeks left until Halloween and we’re just getting started with celebrating! Let me know in the comments below what you’ll be binge watching during October so that I can add them to my list!
Much Love,
